Five Favorite Things

We’ll guys, it’s official.

We’ve made it through seven whole days of 2015.

I figured that meant it was about time for a look back at my Five Favorite Things.

Macarons || I finally tried macarons, y’all! Let me just say that they are totally worth the hype. I was at Marshall’s a few days after Christmas and I kept seeing these colorful little cookies everywhere. I would get so excited but then realize they were just chocolate covered Oreos (which sounds amazing in hindsight). I was so bummed out just because I really wanted to try some but then I got to checkout and there was a package of honest to goodness French macacrons! I grabbed then the realized once I got back to the car they I didn’t actually know what flavor they were and they were bright green. I said a silent prayer that they would be mint or something other than like green tea flavored and dug in. Turns out they were pistachio and they were awesome! It was like eating a really luxurious, flavored Oreo without all the crumbs and black in your teeth. Now if only Laudree would just magically show up on my doorstep…a girl can dream.

Hot Pink Lipstick || Like I said in my 2014 Beauty Favorites, I’ve sorta made hot pink lipstick my signature color. How Steel Magnolias of me, right? Which seems wildly appropriate considering the title of this blog. I’ve mostly been wearing the Too Faced Melted Liquefied Lipstick in Melted Fuchsia but I’ve managed to work in Bite’s Luminous Creme Lipstick in Palomino for a change of shade every now and then.

Scented Pens || It may be twenty-fifteen but I’m bringing the 90s back, y’all! I feel like such a kid using these pens but then I remember that my writing now smells like bubblegum and all is forgiven.

Reign || I have no clue why but I actually put off watching this show for the longest time but then I found myself bored on New Years Eve and decided to give it a try. It has all of my favorite things: royalty, history, fashion, romance, and actors doing British accents for European characters. The show centers around Mary Queen of Scots as she returns to French Court in 1557 in order to possibly marry the future King of France, Prince Francis. I’m barely through season 1 and I’m already searching for ways to watch season 2. Also, something that should cement how much I love this show, I actually started rewatching season 1 before even finishing it. I made my sister watch it while she was here for Christmas break and she calls me with updates on her thoughts on the show all the time. It’s so twisty and turny that I can’t help but loving it. Even if it is a bit of The Vampire Diaries meets The Tudors.

BaubleBar Necklaces || I have been a huge fan of BaubleBar for years now but lately they have been blowing me away. While I was last minute Christmas shopping I started a search for a set of Stila Lip Glazes for my sister in Ulta. That’s when I came across a value set that combined 3 Stila Lip Glazes, a Kitten eyeshadow, and a BabubleBar spiked bracelet. I’m a huge fan of Kitten, I knew my sister would love the spiked bracelet, and the set was on sale. I brought it home and broke it down into gifts. That’s when I saw that there was a gift card in the set for $10 to spend on My sister’s fairly minimal on the jewelry side of things, I knew she would only wear the bracelet out or on special occasions so I thought I might be sneaky and keep the gift card for myself. So I got on BaubleBar’s site, found out there was a sale, and went a bit crazy. With my gift card and vault points added in as well as tax and shipping I was able to get two necklaces for $8. That’s crazy.

Nobody does packaging quite like BaubleBar.

I thought a gold shark tooth would be a fun accent to add to my little collection and the dainty little emerald can add a pop of color to any outfit.

Honorable Mention

101 Things in 1001 Days || I know, I know. I’ve been talking about this none stop but that’s because it’s my favorite, duh! If you haven’t already then you really should check out my list here and keep a look out for updates to it. I’ve already crossed a few things off the list, which is incredibly satisfying.
